Math Kangaroo Day - Proctoring Instructions.

Proctoring  instructions

1. Seat the kids and introduce yourself; write your names on the board; go over the attendance sheet and check attendance.

2. Explain the rules to the kids (see below).  Congratulate them on their participation in Math Kangaroo 2010 with 5 million participants worldwide.

3. Write the rules on the board.

4. Distribute pencils, scratch paper and answer sheets and go around the room to check the names.

5. Distribute the questions and tell them to write their names on the question booklet and fill in the ovals with their ID numbers on the answer

forms, and to wait until you set the timer. Help younger students with filling in their id numbers.

6. Set the timer and announce when one hour is over, (15 min are left,) and when only 5 min are left.

7. Control the silence and behavior.

8. For any type of inappropriate behavior, send the kid out of the room immediately, to keep the distractions to other kids minimal.

Make sure parents are waiting or somebody on your team can take care of the students who are leaving.

9. Collect the answer sheets and put a check mark on the attendance sheet.

10. Let them keep the questions (if the test started after 4:00 PM local time) and pencils.

11. If kids finish early, they can leave the room to join their parents or quietly read a book or draw on the scratch paper.

12. When everybody is finished or the time is up, check the attendance sheet to see if all answer sheets are collected.

13. Refer to the attendance sheet or to the answer form to get the right size of the T-shirts; distribute the T-shirts, diplomas, and gifts.

14. Ask the kids to get together for the Competition Photo if you did not take the photo earlier.

15. Ask them to put the chairs and desks back in order.

16. Congratulate them on their participation and invite them for next year.

17. Let the students go! :)
